La Consentida - Madrid

Thanks to the miracle that is EasyJet (F-you Ryanair), I was able to book a round-trip ticket from Copenhagen to Madrid for about $100. I didn't know my schedule at the time but as the flight was so cheap, I figured I should play it safe and book a flight to arrive just after noon on a Saturday and leave early the next morning.

I had about 4-5 sights/restaurants on my list for the day and was planning to walk around the city but thought I should grab a beer before I started. I walked into an authentic looking hole-in-the-wall and thanks to the incredible hospitality of the bartender (Alex), one beer turned into four, a tortilla, awesome gespacho, the most delicious jamón ever (Ibérico), holding a huge-ass egg (naturally) and getting to know the faces of the local barrio. If that weren't enough, they wouldn't let me pay for anything and Alex dropped me off at a nearby park!

It sounds cheesy, but genuine hospitality and warmth really touches my heart and is hard to come by these days. I was lucky enough to find loads of it at La Consentida. I'm definitely coming back soon - cheers!
